THE HUMAN CONNECTION
Stella Maris’s
impact on seafarer
mental health
As the world’s largest ship-visiting charity, Stella Maris has been
supporting the welfare and wellbeing of millions of seafarers globally
for over 100 years. The charity was founded in 1920 and now operates
in over 350 ports across 57 countries worldwide through its network
of 200 port chaplains and 800 volunteers who visit ships every day
with one simple purpose – to support the welfare and wellbeing of the
world’s 1.9 million seafarers, whoever and wherever they are.
At this year’s AGM, The Swedish Club focused on seafarer wellbeing and
Stella Maris is one of a number of essential organisations that work on the
ground to support mariners.
The Club was therefore honoured to be able to donate $9,000 USD to the
charity in recognition of the work it carries out. This was raised thanks to
the Sponsors of our annual Mutual Cup football match (held each year
during the AGM).
